So the question is, has dieting gone too far? Pepsi debuted their new can design for Diet Pepsi at this year's NYFW. I have a problem with this. They used words like "taller," "attractive," and "stylish" to describe the "skinny" can. I dont wanna sound like a hater, but I dont like the assumption that in order to be taller, attractive and stylish you have to be skinny. I think that Pepsi is putting out there that this is the way you ought to look. And then to debut it at Fashion Week! This new design is in "celebration of beautiful, confident woman." That was in a statement released by Pepsi. Ok, now bare with me because I'm going to the bottom of the ocean on this (in other words, I'm about to go deep). To say that, is to say only skinny, tall women can be beautiful and confident. Here's my thought, this can does NOT and I repeat NOT represent beautiful confident women. This can represents everything worng with society. I am a curvy girl, confidence in not held by what size you are, rather how you see yourself, how you carry yourself. I dont care if you are a size 0, doesnt make you confident. I am not even close to a 0 but I am strong and confident in who I am.
Pepsi is too big of a brand to put such a dangerous message out here. I cant wait to see what kind of hell this new can design is going to raise. Pepsi should be ashamed of theirselves. Boo Pepsi Bye!
